The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 549

While Clive was indulging in his hedonistic lifestyle, things were taking a drastically different turn elsewhere.

It was evening. Zadie had been sitting comfortably on the living room sofa, elegantly pruning a fresh vase of flowers. When the doorbell rang, she assumed the maid had returned from grocery shopping. She set down her shears and got up to answer it.

But when the door swung open, she found Milford standing on the porch. His face was ice-cold, and his eyes were terrifyingly grim.

"Milford?" Zadie was taken aback for a moment, but quickly put on a welcoming smile. "What brings you by so suddenly? Come in, have a seat. I'll have the maid brew some coffee..."

Milford didn't even glance at her. He simply brushed past her and strode directly into the living room, his sharp, dagger-like gaze scanning the surroundings. "Where is Tamara?"

Zadie's smile froze, and she nearly dropped the shears in her hand. She felt entirely baffled by his behavior. "Tamara is resting upstairs. What on earth is..."

Seeing Milford barging in like a furious storm, she couldn't help but wonder: had Tamara done something to offend the Sherwood family again?

Panic started to set in. Zadie wanted to exchange a few pleasantries, at least to get him to calm down first.

But to her shock, Milford's voice was rigid and harsh, completely forgoing any basic greetings. "Tell Tamara to get down here right now. I have questions for her."

Zadie could no longer maintain her smile. She frowned slightly. "Milford, what is wrong with you? I am your elder, after all. Tamara is right upstairs, she isn't going anywhere. Whatever it is, can't we talk about it civilly?"

"I don't have time for your nonsense," Milford interrupted sharply, his eyes piercing. "I said I need to speak with Tamara now. Tell her to come down immediately, or I'm going up to get her myself."

Ever since he saw through the true, ugly nature of the Sloan family, Milford couldn't even be bothered to feign politeness with them. If he hadn't needed to drag Tamara back for an interrogation, he wouldn't have even stepped foot on this property.

Zadie was stunned by his blatant hostility. For a moment, she was completely lost for words. She had never seen Milford act like this.
