The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 555

"Hackett, Zadie, the Sherwood family is completely in the wrong today." Fitch spoke, his tone thoroughly earnest as he offered an apologetic nod. "Milford is young, arrogant, and prone to reckless behavior. As his father, I sincerely apologize on his behalf."

Hackett's thunderous expression softened marginally. He had always held a certain level of respect for Fitch. Seeing the powerful patriarch voluntarily lower his head made it difficult to keep pushing the issue, but he still maintained a firm tone. "I don't mean to overreact, but Milford's behavior today was genuinely horrifying. Did you hear the vile things he just said?"

It was a chill that seeped straight into their bones.

"Yes, yes, you're absolutely right, Hackett," Fitch agreed, nodding continuously as he feigned deep distress. "I have no idea what has gotten into that boy. It's like his brain was washed out with water—he's completely forgotten all his manners and decency! I assure you, I will discipline him severely the moment I get home!"

Zadie, however, wasn't so easily placated. She crossed her arms and sneered. "Mr. Sherwood, let's skip the pretty speeches. I just want a straight answer: what is the Sherwood family's official stance on this?"

She gestured sharply toward Tamara in the hospital bed. "Tamara and Milford are legally married. She is now pregnant with a Sherwood heir. Instead of celebrating, you all act like she's carrying the plague?"

A flicker of irritation flashed through Fitch's eyes, but he kept his smile firmly in place. "You're severely misunderstanding us. Why wouldn't we be thrilled? It's just that Milford has a stubborn streak and hasn't fully processed the news yet."

He stepped up to the bedside, gazing down at Tamara's pale face with the warmth of a loving father-in-law. "Tamara, sweetheart, I know you've been put through the wringer."

Reaching into his suit jacket, he retrieved a sleek black premium credit card and gently placed it on the nightstand. "Take this card. Use it to make sure you're well taken care of, and please, try not to stress over this. As for Milford, I will personally make sure he gives you a proper apology."

Tamara kept her eyes lowered, clutching the edge of her blanket. "Thank you..." she whispered timidly.

On the outside, she played the picture of a meek, grateful daughter-in-law, but inwardly, she was scoffing. The Sherwoods were all cut from the same hypocritical cloth. Who exactly was this 'doting father-in-law' act for?

If he actually cared about his future grandchild, he wouldn't have stood by and let Milford declare he was disowning the baby right in front of him!
