The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 572

Callahan smirked. "It's a secret."

Lowering her eyelashes to hide the gleam of excitement in her eyes, Leilani softly replied, "...Suit yourself."

Since Callahan was going to do all the work anyway, she would just pretend she didn't know anything about it.

He chuckled, finding her adorable, and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Just look forward to it."

Leilani nestled into his embrace, listening to his steady heartbeat. Her own pulse began to quicken with eager anticipation. Perhaps this birthday truly would be different.

...

Meanwhile, at the Sloan residence.

It was a silver lining to Tamara's misfortune that she hadn't suffered any major complications. After resting in the hospital for a few hours, she was discharged to recover at home.

Upon hearing the news, Zadie and Hackett rushed to bring her back without a moment's delay.

The black sedan slowly pulled up to the house. As the car door opened, Zadie carefully helped Tamara step out.

Having narrowly avoided a miscarriage, Tamara looked ghastly pale. Her normally round cheeks were slightly hollowed, making her chin appear even sharper. She looked so frail that a stiff breeze might blow her over. Her lips were practically bloodless, and faint dark circles shadowed her eyes, making it clear she hadn't slept well in a long time. Even wrapped in a bulky cashmere coat, she still seemed alarmingly delicate.

Seeing her daughter in such a state, Zadie's heart ached so much that tears streamed down her face. She gently stroked Tamara's pallid cheek. "Look at you. It's only been a few hours, and you look terrible... You barely look like yourself anymore. The Sherwoods have gone too far!"

Tamara kept her head down, nervously twisting the hem of her clothes, her voice trembling. "Dad, Mom... don't blame Milford. He... he might have just been confused in the heat of the moment..."

"Angry?" Hackett scoffed coldly. "What right does he have to be angry? If he hadn't dragged you around, would you have fallen like that?"

The three of them sat down in the living room, continuing to vent about Milford's outrageous behavior.

Right as Hackett was mid-rant, the doorbell rang.

A maid hurried to open the door. Moments later, Fitch walked in, flanked by two bodyguards and wearing a polite smile. "Hackett, how is Tamara doing?"

It was blatantly obvious that Fitch had known Tamara was being discharged today.
