When would she ever learn to be more composed? Judie and Callahan had grown up together, yet he was so steady and mature.
Letty, however, watched the two of them leave with a thoughtful expression.
At the end of the café hallway, Judie made sure no one was around before lowering her voice. "Callahan, what is really going on between you and Leilani?"
Callahan's eyes darkened. "Who told you something?"
"Does anyone need to tell me?" Judie rolled her eyes. "It's so obvious you two are giving each other the cold shoulder!" Catching the warning in Callahan's glare, Judie quickly threw Yvonne under the bus. "Okay, fine, I heard it from Yvonne. You two have been so obvious about it, she noticed and told me. Besides, Leilani has been incredibly busy lately and won't even meet up with me. She's spending all her time with that Ethan Jenkins. Anyone could tell something was off."
At the mention of that particular name, Callahan’s expression turned icy. "Mr. Jenkins? The one who's always on a motorcycle?"
Startled by his look, Judie quickly waved her hands. "Whoa, don't get the wrong idea! I already checked. She's helping him with a case. It's not what you think!"
Callahan’s face relaxed slightly. "You know what their relationship is?"
Judie hesitated, then confessed, "Yvonne said Mr. Jenkins is a childhood friend of Leilani's, someone she knew from the countryside before she returned to the Sloan family."
