Dante chuckled heartily. "Well, it's right around the corner now! Whatever you like, Leilani, I will make it happen for you!"
Leilani's cheeks grew warmer, and she cast a pleading look at Callahan.
Callahan set down his spoon and gently took her hand under the table, his fingertips playfully tracing her palm.
"Mom," he looked up at Letty, a note of gentle exasperation in his voice, "you're being a little too hasty."
He added a serving of ribs to his mother’s plate. "Let Leilani finish her dinner first. We can hire a professional team to discuss the wedding another day."
Letty shot him a mock-reproachful look. "I'm just so happy! You've always been such a closed book. Now you've gone and proposed in secret. Of course your mother has to worry about the details for you!"
Dante nodded in agreement. "Exactly! You boy, you keep everything to yourself. If we hadn't seen the ring today, were you planning on waiting until after you were legally married to tell us?"
Callahan's expression didn't change. "I was planning to wait until the plan was ready before saying anything."
Letty's eyes lit up. "A plan? You've already contacted a team?"
"Mmm," Callahan replied coolly. "I've had initial talks with a few. We can choose one together when Leilani has time."
He turned to look at Leilani. "Pick whichever one you like. Don't worry about the budget."
Leilani felt her ears burn under his gaze and mumbled softly, "...We don't need to be so extravagant."
"Of course we do!" Letty immediately objected. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime event. It has to be spectacular!"
She excitedly pulled out her phone. "I just happened to save a few videos from wedding bloggers the other day. Leilani, take a look and see what style you like."
