The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 670

They were a pair of soft, light gray slippers.

Before their recent falling out, Leilani had figured she'd be coming over to Callahan's place often enough that she might as well buy a matching pair of slippers to keep there. Both of their pairs were the same light gray color.

She slipped them on and looked up to meet Callahan's smiling eyes.

"What are you smiling at?" Leilani asked, confused.

Why had Callahan been looking at her like that all day? It was starting to make her feel a little self-conscious.

Callahan closed the door and took the coat she'd taken off. "It's nothing. I was just thinking..."

He paused, his voice low and rich. "You seem more and more at ease here. More and more like the lady of the house."

Leilani's ears grew warm, and she shot him a playful glare. "Oh, stop it."

She walked to the living room, sat on the sofa, and grabbed a throw pillow to hug.

Callahan went to the kitchen, poured her a glass of water, and sat down beside her to discuss their relationship. "How about tomorrow I have the PR department draft a statement to announce our relationship?"

Now that she had accepted his proposal, marriage was just around the corner. It seemed like the right time to go public.

Leilani's hand, which was taking the glass, paused. "No."
