The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 674

Where was she supposed to start?

But then Yvonne seemed to remember something else and stared thoughtfully at Leilani. "So... I was right all along, wasn't I? The 'package' was a surprise from Mr. Langley!"

Yvonne was certain this was the truth.

Leilani pressed her fingers to her forehead, exasperated. She wasn't sure if Yvonne was quick on the uptake or just slow to connect the dots. She gave a small nod. "The package was arranged by Callahan. The whole point was to lure me to the rooftop."

Yvonne let out a little shriek, grinning from ear to ear. "I knew it! There's no way you'd be this happy just from picking up a package!"

But wait.

"The rooftop?" Yvonne looked at Leilani. "You're saying Mr. Langley proposed to you on the rooftop?"

How had she not heard a thing? The thought that she had missed Leilani's proposal fanned the flames of her gossipy soul.

"Leilani, please, you have to tell me," she begged. "I'm dying of curiosity! How did Mr. Langley propose? Did he get down on one knee? Were there roses?"

Yvonne couldn't imagine what the normally stoic and serious Callahan would look like while proposing.

The image of the starlit rooftop floated into Leilani's mind. Callahan, down on one knee, the city lights reflected in his eyes, which held only her. A smile involuntarily touched her lips, but feeling a little shy, she gave Yvonne a vague answer. "It was... just like any other proposal. Nothing special, pretty ordinary."

Yvonne pouted. "Liar!" She pointed at the ring. "This diamond is practically blinding me, and you call that ordinary?"

Leilani looked down at the ring, her heart warming. It certainly wasn't ordinary. Callahan had it specially commissioned from a designer, and the inside of the band was engraved with their initials: S & L.

"He... was very thoughtful," Leilani said softly. If he hadn't been, she wouldn't have accepted his proposal.
