Nevertheless, she was deeply moved by Ethan’s thoughtfulness. She put the bracelet on right in front of him.
Ethan’s gaze lingered on her wrist for a moment; the delicate silver chain made her wrist look even more slender and fair. He had to admit, his taste was pretty good. The bracelet looked perfectly harmonious on her.
Leilani was clearly pleased, her eyes shining with joy. “Thank you, I love it.”
Ethan’s heart eased slightly. As long as she liked it, that was all that mattered. It had been worth visiting several malls to find the perfect gift.
Just then, his gaze fell on Leilani’s left hand and noticed a new ring on her ring finger. It was a simple design, a platinum band set with a single diamond—not enormous, but dazzling enough to catch the eye. The inner band seemed to have fine engravings that appeared and disappeared as the light shifted.
A flurry of possibilities flashed through Ethan’s mind. A ring of that style on the left ring finger…
Knowing Leilani as he did, she wasn’t the type to buy a ring like that for herself as a mere accessory and wear it on such a significant finger. Therefore… it could only have been a gift from someone else.
Ethan’s breath hitched, his heart tightening in his chest, but he kept his expression calm. “Is that a new ring?”
Leilani seemed to notice his gaze. She looked down at the ring, an unconscious smile gracing her lips. “Yes. My boyfriend gave it to me.”
Ethan’s facade was so perfect that Leilani didn't notice anything was wrong. The mention of the wedding, however, made her hesitate. She planned to wait until the matters with the Sloan family were resolved before having the ceremony, and she had no idea when that would be. So, she wasn't sure about the date herself.
“We’re not in a hurry to have the wedding. It might be a while. We’re still young, so we can enjoy being engaged for a bit longer.”
Ethan looked at her gentle expression and, after a moment’s hesitation, couldn’t help but ask, “Your boyfriend… does he treat you well?”
“He treats me very well,” Leilani answered without a second thought. “I wouldn’t have said yes if he didn’t.”
