Although Callahan could be incredibly childish and clingy at times, those moments were rare and, in a way, a special part of their relationship. Leilani actually found it quite endearing.
Besides, in their daily life, Callahan was an incredibly reliable and composed person. Having been with him for so long, Leilani felt that he was usually the one being patient and accommodating with her.
So, in all honesty, Leilani felt Callahan treated her exceptionally well.
Seeing the smile that unconsciously bloomed on Leilani’s face whenever she mentioned him, Ethan understood everything. After a moment of silence, he looked at Leilani and suddenly smiled. “That’s good. As long as he treats you well, that’s all that matters.”
“Hmm?” Leilani didn’t understand what he meant.
Ethan leaned back in his chair, his tone light. “I can rest easy knowing someone is taking care of you. You’ll have to introduce me to him sometime. I want to see what kind of guy was lucky enough to land a great girlfriend like you.”
Leilani paused, recalling how jealous Callahan had been of Ethan during their cold spell. She felt a little awkward. With Callahan being such a jealous person, she thought it was probably best if the two of them didn't meet just yet.
“Sure, I can introduce you two when I get the chance.”
Leilani changed the subject, asking about Ethan’s own love life. “You’ve been asking all about me. Now it’s my turn. Do you have a girlfriend yet?”
With his handsome looks and career as a police officer, Ethan surely had no shortage of women pursuing him.
To her surprise, Ethan shook his head. “You know the nature of my job. I’m either out on a call or on my way to one. I’m too busy for a relationship.”
