The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 811

Although Leilani had looked entirely at ease while performing the intricate procedure, it was by no means a walk in the park. After four grueling hours in the operating room, she was utterly exhausted.

As a seasoned surgeon, Dr. Watson knew all too well how physically taxing a four-hour operation could be. Considering this was Leilani's first time participating in such a high-stakes surgery, he knew she had to be drained. He gently instructed her to step away from the table and go get some rest.

It wasn't until Leilani stepped out of the operating room that she realized dawn was already breaking. The surgery had lasted from the dead of night straight through to the early morning. Now that the adrenaline was finally fading, a deep, aching soreness settled into her arms, making them feel too heavy to even lift.

Meanwhile, out in the waiting area...

Yvonne hadn't exactly been the picture of calm while Leilani was inside. She was huddled on a bench outside the doors, with Judie sitting right beside her. Her brother, the most important person in her life, was lying on an operating table with his life hanging in the balance.

Judie knew that empty words of comfort wouldn't do any good right now, so she simply held Yvonne's hand in a tight grip, hoping to transfer whatever strength she could.

Yvonne looked beside herself with anxiety, her hands unconsciously wringing together. Every time the heavy doors made even the slightest sound, she jumped.

After what felt like an eternity, the doors finally opened.

The second Yvonne saw Leilani step out, she sprinted over, her eyes wide with terror. "Leilani, how is he?"

Her heart was practically in her throat.

Leilani pulled down her surgical mask and offered a reassuring, exhausted smile. "He's fine. We saved him."

She took a breath. "Once the team finishes up in there, he'll be transferred to an observation room. As soon as his vitals stabilize, he'll be completely in the clear."

Hearing those words, Yvonne's knees instantly gave out. She slumped against Judie, sobbing uncontrollably as a tidal wave of relief crashed over her. "Oh, thank God..."
