She called him back.
The phone was answered instantly.
Luke’s voice came through. “Hi, Felicia.”
Greg had already spoken with him, so he knew her current situation.
Felicia’s voice was steady as she asked, “How’s work going over there?”
“It’s going very smoothly,” Luke replied. “I’ll be back in a few days. I’ll treat you to dinner then.”
Felicia chuckled lightly. “You know I won’t say no to that.”
“I hope you won’t.”
…
They chatted for a bit longer.
Luke didn’t ask about the online scandal. Even though her tone was normal, he knew Felicia must be hurting inside.
He also knew there were people taking care of this for her, and there was nothing he could do.
“Luke, I’ll let you go for now. Let’s get together when you’re back.”
“Okay, sounds good.”
After hanging up, Felicia called Jeremy. He was already at the office.
“Felicia, can you come to the office?”
“Okay.”
Half an hour later, Felicia parked her car in the underground garage.
Reporters were swarming the main entrance of the building but were being held back by security.
Felicia took the elevator upstairs.
Along the way, employees greeted her as they normally would, but she could clearly feel the unusual, speculative glances from all around her.
