Felicia's fingers stiffened slightly. Anne was beaming up at her mother with a bright smile. Felicia's heart sank just a fraction before she slowly raised her hand toward the man.

Max reached out, his large hand warmly enveloping her slender fingers. He slowly slid the ring onto her finger. The fit was absolutely perfect.

Anne cheered with excitement. "It looks so pretty. Mommy's hand looks even more beautiful with the ring on."

Felicia looked at her daughter, at a total loss for words for a moment. "You just have wonderful taste."

"Mommy, hurry and help Daddy try his on."

Seeing his cue, the manager immediately picked up the jewelry box with both hands and presented it to Felicia. She pulled out the matching men's band nestled inside and lifted her eyes to look at Max.

Max's intense gaze was already fixed on her. He lifted his hand and offered it to her. Felicia lightly supported his large palm with one hand. The soft touch of her fingertips sent an instant, subtle thrill across his skin. She did not hold his hand fully, simply guiding the ring as she slid it onto his ring finger.

Just as she prepared to pull her hand away, the man's long, sculptured fingers subtly tightened their grip. Felicia startled slightly, a flash of panic crossing her eyes. She looked up at the man before her, only to see a teasing, playful smirk curving the corners of his lips.

Felicia knew instantly that he was doing it on purpose just to mess with her.

Max quickly withdrew his hand. Anne was completely oblivious to the silent exchange between her parents. She reached out to grab her father's hand, examining the ring with a wide grin. "It looks great on Daddy too."

Max's lips curved into a genuine smile. "So we will take this pair?"

Anne nodded eagerly in agreement.

"Do you want to look at anything else?" he asked.

"Yes."

The staff quickly brought over a selection of other fine jewelry pieces. There were emeralds, pearls, crystals, and diamonds, all representing the highest tier of luxury currently available in the boutique.

"Daddy, this necklace is perfect for Mommy. You should put it on her."
