Watching this unfold, the nearby sales associate could not help but sigh inwardly, completely overcome with envy.
They had seen plenty of wealthy men in their line of work. However, a man who was rich, breathtakingly handsome, possessed such an extraordinary aura, and spent money so generously was like finding a needle in a haystack.
But she knew she had no right to be jealous. After all, his wife was at the absolute pinnacle of beauty, and their daughter was undeniably gorgeous. That child had practically been born at the finish line of life.
Max pulled a sleek black card from his inner jacket pocket. Just as he was about to swipe it to pay, a sudden sound interrupted them.
Someone knocked on the lounge door. A staff member hurried over to open it.
Another supervisor from the boutique stepped inside, wearing an expression of deep apology. He looked directly at the manager. "Sir."
The manager frowned. "What is the matter?"
Right on his heels, Holden and Andrea strolled into the private room.
Holden's gaze swept over the luxurious jewelry scattered across the coffee table, eventually landing on the diamond encrusted emerald set. He took a step forward. "My apologies for the interruption, Max. I heard the boutique had a rare emerald collection available today. I assume this must be it."
Holden smoothly took a seat on the adjacent single armchair. He reached out to pick up the necklace for a closer look. Suddenly, another hand slid into his line of sight. Max used his black credit card to firmly block Holden's hand from touching the jewels.
Holden's hand paused. He turned his head to look at Max, a faint smile playing on his thin lips. "Do not be so stingy. I only want to take a look."
Max's voice was dark and commanding. "You are too late."
Holden pulled his hand back and leaned casually against the sofa. He crossed his long legs, his posture entirely relaxed and lazy. His eyes dragged over Felicia before he finally spoke again. "I wonder if you might let me have it this time, Max. Andrea really loves it too."
Andrea moved to sit sideways on the armrest of Holden's chair. Holden reached out and wrapped a possessive arm around her waist. His actions were incredibly intimate. "Max, I hope you can do me a favor and let me have this jewelry set, for old times' sake."
Max's expression remained entirely impassive. He completely ignored the couple's request and simply looked at the manager. "Charge the card."
