Isaac was stunned by the order. Having worked with Dannie for nearly half a year, he could clearly see that she was an extremely proud and confident person who always carried a sense of superiority. However, she completed her work with exceptional excellence, giving her the right to hold her head high. Transferring her to the Operations Support department would likely feel even more humiliating to her than being outright fired.
He dared not ask for the reason. "Yes, sir."
After Isaac left, Max checked the time and pulled out his phone to call Felicia. The phone rang twice before the call was abruptly rejected. He stared at the screen showing the disconnected call, took a deep breath, and tossed the phone aside.
Heather watched Felicia hang up the phone. She had a rough idea of who was calling but didn't ask any questions, simply continuing their casual chat. As long as the conversation avoided sensitive people and topics, Felicia seemed no different from a normal person. Because of this, Heather was incredibly careful whenever she spoke to her, terrified of triggering an episode.
How could Felicia fail to notice her unusual behavior? She smiled slightly. "Just say whatever is on your mind."
Heather snapped back to reality. "All I hope right now is that you get better soon, Felicia."
Felicia offered a gentle smile. "I will."
The two women shopped for the entire morning. Felicia mainly bought a few outfits and stuffed toys for Anne. They had lunch inside the mall at noon.
During lunch, Felicia received a call from Jeremy. "Felicia, do you have time tonight? Nate invited us to his house for dinner."
It had indeed been a while since she last contacted Nate. She did not refuse. "Alright."
After lunch, Felicia and Heather didn't head straight home. A new comedy film had just hit theaters, so they went to watch it. The movie was light and joyful. The entire theater was filled with bursts of happy laughter, and Felicia couldn't help but laugh out loud alongside everyone else. Seeing her laugh finally put Heather's mind at ease.
When school let out, the two women went together to pick up the children.
"Mommy." Anne ran toward her mother, carrying her little backpack.
