The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1190

“The conditions in Antarctica are far worse than you imagine,” Alexander said softly. “When we get there, if there’s any danger, protect yourself first. Don’t worry about me.”

Danielle looked up. “We came together, so we’ll go back together. You don’t have to keep trying to push me away. Since I’m here, I’m prepared to face whatever comes.”

Alexander’s lips parted, his gaze fixed on her. “Get some rest after you eat.”

He didn’t continue the conversation. He turned to leave, but paused at the door and looked back at her. “If you need anything, call me anytime.”

“Okay,” Danielle nodded, watching him leave and gently close the door.

The room fell silent again. Danielle looked at the warm meal on the table but had lost her appetite. She knew her words had been clear enough for him to understand. He just wasn't ready yet.

After leaving her room, Alexander closed his eyes and took a deep breath before returning to his own. The encrypted hard drive was in the safe by his bed. He opened it, confirmed the data was secure, and then lay down. He clutched the gloves Niki had given him, holding them to his chest. He closed his eyes and suddenly felt a little less cold. It was as if a single beam of light had pierced the overwhelming darkness he lived in, a sign that perhaps he didn't have to stay in that damp, gloomy world forever. But some things were still a heavy burden. Happiness still felt very far away.

The next morning, the research team departed on schedule. As the plane took off again, heading towards Antarctica, Danielle leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes to rest. Alexander sat beside her.

“When we get back, I’ll take her to an amusement park. And for that ice cream she’s always wanted,” Alexander said suddenly, breaking the silence. His voice was soft. “I’ll try to be a good father.”

Danielle’s heart skipped a beat. This was his first step.

“Alexander, it’s not that hard,” she said, looking at his face. “She’s been waiting for you.”
