The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1189

A pang went through Alexander’s heart.

He lowered his gaze to the gift from his daughter, a complex and indescribable mix of emotions churning within him. He had always intentionally kept his distance from Niki, convinced he didn't deserve to be a proper father.

Sitting beside him, Danielle watched the flicker of emotions on his face. She said nothing, simply gazing out the window. Some knots could only be untied by oneself; words from others were of little help. All she could do was be there, giving him the time and space he needed.

The plane landed in a stopover city as evening fell. The research team proceeded to their designated hotel to rest and prepare for the final leg of their journey the next day. The hotel had been booked in advance, with everyone on the same floor for ease of management and to ensure the security of confidential materials. The core data for the 07 jet, testing protocols, and other critical information were stored on an encrypted hard drive that Alexander carried with him everywhere—a heavy responsibility that never left his side.

After checking in, Danielle quickly unpacked before leaning against the headboard to review the test proposal. The long flight had left her feeling weary. Her thoughts were with Niki, but she was also worried about Alexander’s health. She had a persistent feeling that this trip would not be smooth sailing.

Danielle rubbed the bridge of her nose. There was something she knew she had to do. She and Alexander needed a breakthrough, a real conversation. They couldn't keep dragging things out like this, with an eternal barrier between them.

Around ten o’clock, a knock sounded at the door.

Danielle got up to open it and found Alexander standing outside, holding a thermal bag.

Looking at Danielle, Alexander spoke. “I brought you something to eat.”

“Come in,” Danielle said, closing the door behind him.

She walked to the table and opened the bag. Inside were a few delicate side dishes and a small portion of BBQ ribs, one of her favorites.

In truth, she was starving. She wasn’t used to the local food and couldn’t bring herself to eat it.

“I had it brought from home. The food here might not be to your taste.”

He was, in fact, incredibly meticulous. Perhaps the only reason he had once been able to portray such thorough indifference was because he was just as thorough in everything he did, never missing a single detail.
