The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 621

Danielle’s chest tightened.

Nathan’s bluntness caught her completely off guard.

No matter how she tried to cut him off, he insisted on saying what was on his mind—laying his feelings bare without the slightest hesitation.

She drew a slow breath. “Nathan, I think you know perfectly well there’s no future for us.”

Nathan leaned forward, his gaze steady. “Is it the rumors that bother you? Or are you saying we could never work, no matter what?”

He didn’t wait for her to answer. “You think, after divorcing Alex, marrying his older brother would only give people more to talk about.”

Danielle frowned, her patience thinning.

“Nathan, I don’t feel that way about you. Not like that.”

He nodded, accepting her words with a kind of quiet resignation. “I’d never force you into anything when it comes to feelings.”

She made up her mind in that moment. “If you’re going to keep pushing this, then maybe it’s best if we don’t see each other anymore.”

Nathan managed a half-smile.

“So to turn me down, you’d rather cut me out of your life entirely?”

He pressed his lips together, struggling for composure. “You’re right—feelings can’t be forced. I’ll wait.” His eyes met hers, earnest and unwavering. “I just needed you to know how I feel, so there’s no misunderstanding between us.”

Danielle’s heart twisted.

His confession felt like a wall going up between them, pushing her further away.

Now she understood—Nathan’s kindness came with strings attached. She couldn’t just accept it blindly, not anymore. From now on, she’d have to weigh every interaction, consider every gesture.

Nathan studied her face, as if reading her thoughts. “I know what you’re thinking. You don’t want to accept anything from me anymore.”

He looked down, taking a shaky breath. “Trust me, I’ve thought about this a thousand times.”

After a long silence, he finally lifted his eyes, something dark and unresolved flickering there. “Honestly…I can’t stand the thought of you still calling me your brother.”

Danielle’s voice was steady. “You were confused when you woke up from the accident. As for tonight—and everything you said—I’ll pretend I never heard any of it.”
