All these subtle undercurrents seemed to be pushing their relationship in one direction or another, as if everyone was quietly wondering whether there was real affection between them or not.
If Nathan truly wanted to know the truth, he could have asked Danielle directly—there was no need to bring it up at a gathering like this.
The party hadn’t even started yet. After some polite conversation, everyone drifted off to tend to their own matters.
Nathan, however, stayed seated at the table, unmoving.
He’d only just returned recently, and while his name had started to circulate in business circles, he hadn’t had time to build any real connections yet.
Gian glanced at Nathan. “Dani and I have always considered you an older brother.”
“You don’t mind, do you?”
Nathan smiled, warmth in his voice. “Why would I mind? Mr. Atwood, you’re a rising star in your own right. If anything, I should be flattered you’d call me your brother.”
Gian gave a small, reserved smile.
“You’re back now, settling down here. I’ve built up a network myself over the years. If you ever run into trouble, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d be happy to help in any way I can.”
Nathan looked at him, sincerity in his gaze. “It’s reassuring to know Dani has someone like you by her side.”
“I haven’t really run into any obstacles yet, and I doubt I’ll need much help.”
Gian’s smile deepened. “Still, I wanted to say it. You’re Dani’s big brother, so it’s only right for me to look out for you, too.”
“Someone as capable as you probably won’t need my help anyway.”
Nathan studied him carefully, his eyes darkening.
“You seem awfully curious about Dani and Alexander’s relationship.”
