The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 674

His words, his tone—Danielle had never seen him so earnest before.

For the first time, she understood exactly what he meant. There was none of that evasive ambiguity he used to hide behind.

Danielle lowered her gaze, studying him, searching the darkness in Alexander’s eyes. She saw pain there, and struggle.

But she couldn’t fathom where that pain and struggle came from.

From her perspective, Alexander was always the golden boy, the man who did whatever he pleased.

He’d trampled on her feelings, dismissed her love, and treated their daughter as if she were someone else’s child.

None of it made sense to Danielle.

And this wasn’t the first time she’d tried to ask him about it.

Each time, though, his answers were so vague that the conversation would stall out before it even began.

Danielle clenched her jaw, her eyes cold and steady. “Why are you asking me this now? Is it because you want my trust? Or is there something you hope to get from me?”

She looked him dead in the eyes. “You’re always calculating, always reading people. Don’t you know by now whether my feelings for you are real or not?”

Alexander frowned, silent.

She let out a bitter laugh. “Once, it was real. From now on, there won’t even be a trace of pretending.”

Had he ever thought about their future?

The question was so ironic, it was almost funny.

All these years, she had quietly worked and hoped for their marriage, for their love.

And in the end, this was all she got from him—a single, empty question.

Did he truly not know, or was he just pretending? Danielle couldn’t tell anymore.

Alexander’s expression froze, his eyes distant and unreadable.

“Mr. Davidson.”

A voice came from behind them, cutting through the tension.

It was someone from the government.

“I wondered why I didn’t see you up front—you were back here all along.”
