Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 311

The police showed up fast. Gabby, who had been so calm just moments before, took a few steps away and then suddenly dropped to her knees in front of Julian.

His gaze was cold, almost chilling. “What are you doing?”

“Sir, before I go, may I say a few last words to you?”

Julian’s expression darkened. “Go ahead.”

“I’d like to speak to you alone.”

Julian glanced at Madeline, who walked out of the Grayson house.

Madeline stepped outside. She tilted her head back, staring up at the dark night sky, and let out a deep sigh.

Every word out of Gabby’s mouth had been loaded with something extra. Madeline had a feeling Gabby was talking about her mother.

A debt? What kind of debt?

She closed her eyes for a moment, pushing those thoughts aside. She just didn’t have the energy to deal with it right now.

There was no evidence, and nobody wanted to turn in Helene. But it’s okay. She didn’t need proof. She was never going to let Helene off the hook.

Pulling out her phone, Madeline called someone. “Are you busy?”

A low, rough voice answered. “Yeah, I’m in Country Y. Something happened. I left in a rush and forgot to tell you.”

Madeline didn’t believe for a second that he just forgot. He always hid the bad and only shared the good. If he went back in person, whatever happened must have been serious.

Since he wasn’t going to talk about it, she let it drop.

“What’s up? Miss me?” Casey sounded casual, almost teasing.

“I need to borrow a few people,” Madeline said, getting straight to the point.

“What happened to you?” His voice turned tense.

“It’s not me, it’s Noah.” When she said the name, her voice snagged, just a little, with emotion she couldn’t quite hide.

Casey didn’t hesitate. “I’ll come back.”

“No, don’t. Handle your own stuff. Just send me some people.”

If evidence wasn’t going to fix this, Madeline wasn’t afraid to fight fire with fire. An eye for an eye.

“Alright.” His voice grew noticeably colder.

She’d asked to borrow some people, but after hanging up, she transferred a hefty amount to Casey’s account, paying what a top mercenary costs. The people he sent were the best of the best, and their fees for a single job ran into the tens of millions.

A few seconds later, the money bounced back to her. When Madeline tried to message him, he blocked her.
