Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 351

Madeline gave a quiet laugh. “You catch on fast.”

Videos of Helene’s dramatic jump were all over the internet, and at the Grayson estate, Christian saw everything almost instantly.

He glanced at the phone George handed him and shook his head. “She is really rushing things.”

George nodded in agreement. “Maybe Ms. Fortner just cares about Mr. Grayson a little too much.”

Christian just waved him off and stood, moving to the massive window that overlooked the city. The sky outside was growing darker. He squinted, deep in thought, and finally spoke. “George, have them take down the announcement about the engagement being canceled.”

“Take it down?” George hesitated. “Sir, I’m not sure Mr. Grayson will go along with that.”

Christian turned around, letting out a sharp, annoyed snort.

“I know he won’t like it, but I still run this house. Go ahead. If he’s upset, he can talk to me. Also, tomorrow, announce that their engagement date is moving up. As soon as Helene recovers, they’ll start to arrange the engagement party. We made a promise, and now we’re just going to call it off? It’s embarrassing.”

George saw how angry Christian was and decided not to push it. “I’ll take care of it right away.”

“Good.”

A maid knocked softly at the door. “Sir, dinner is ready.”

“Is Julian back yet?”

The maid shook her head. “He hasn’t come home. Mrs. Grayson said not to worry, since he hardly eats here these days.”

Christian frowned. “If he’s not having dinner here, then where is he?”

The maid hesitated. “Lately, he’s been at the hospital with Noah.”

Christian’s face darkened. “He’s spending all this time with another woman’s son. That woman’s got him completely turned around.”

The maid went silent, worried she’d make things worse if she said more.

After dinner, Lucy got ready to go to the hospital to check on Noah.

Christian caught her by the door. “Where are you off to?”

“Dad, I’m going to visit Noah at the hospital.”

He scowled. “Why is everyone running to that kid’s room? He’s not even a Grayson. Is he really worth all this concern?”

Lucy paused, unsure how to explain what she was feeling.

She didn’t know why she was so worried about the boy. Maybe it was just that he seemed so pitiful.

“Dad, with all due respect, Helene went way too far this time. Noah is such a poor soul. He’s spent five years with us, calling Julian ‘Dad’ every single day. We can’t just turn our backs on him, can we?”

Christian gave a little laugh, clearly unmoved.

He didn’t have any compassion for someone else’s kid, especially not one whose mother was Madeline and whose grandmother was… that person.

He just couldn’t bring himself to care.
