Madeline gave a small, calm smile. “Alright. The minute Helene gets what she deserves, I’ll sign the papers to get your daughter out.”

“You actually trust me?”

Madeline’s lips curled into a half-smile. “I don’t trust you. But I do trust that no mother would let her own child go to prison for someone else’s crime.”

Who would be willing to take the blame and go to jail while the real culprit lived the good life? No one. Only someone as naive as Raine would still believe Helene would swoop in to save her.

Madeline pulled out her car keys, ready to leave. Just then, a Rolls-Royce eased up beside her. Madeline took a step back as the door swung open and George got out.

“Ms. Monroe, Mr. Grayson would like to see you.”

George moved aside, inviting her to get in.

Madeline glanced past him and saw Christian waiting inside. She quickly looked at the other car parked behind them, noticing four bodyguards sitting inside. If she refused, they’d probably just force her in anyway.

With a sigh, Madeline let herself smile wryly and climbed in.

Christian’s expression was steely, his gaze heavy and intimidating. He stared at Madeline like he expected her to know exactly how serious this was.
