Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 393

Julian gripped the paternity test, his jaw tight and eyes clouded with emotion.

He stared at the result printed in bold letters.

There is a biological relationship.

His breath caught in his throat.

The kids…

They were his. Noah and Oliver were his sons. His and Madeline’s.

His heart clenched so hard it almost hurt. Nobody could ever understand the storm raging inside him. The children he’d always thought belonged to someone else… were his own blood.

That doubt had eaten away at him for five long years, poisoning every thought, every moment.

And now…

Julian let out a low, humorless chuckle. The truth, now that it was out, filled him with so many feelings he couldn’t untangle them. Joy. Regret. Shame at how blind he’d been.

It was all tangled up inside him, squeezing his chest so tight he almost couldn’t breathe. Only one bitter thought cut through it all. Julian, you’re a fool. You deserve this.

He looked up, eyes full of pain, and found Madeline standing there. Her face was unreadable, but the memory of her voice rang in his head, clearer than ever.

“Julian, please, believe me. They’re yours. They’re your sons.”

“Can’t you trust me for once? Just once, I’m begging you.”

“You’ll regret this, Julian. I swear you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.”

“If the truth ever comes out, please let me and the kids go. Don’t bother us again.”

Each sentence stabbed at him, every word digging deeper. He felt like his heart was being ripped apart.

“…I’m sorry…”

Madeline tilted her chin up, fighting back tears that shimmered in her eyes.

Sorry?

She let out a short, cold laugh, then dropped her gaze as tears finally fell. She took a shaky breath, looked up at him, and spoke softly. “It’s alright. I forgive you.”

“I forgive you for forcing that medicine on me, just to get back at me for Helene’s child.”
