Casey just gave him a crooked smile. “Sure.”

Muttering to himself, the old man shuffled out with the medicine.

Casey moved over to Madeline’s side. He looked down at her face, so pale it barely looked real. His voice was soft but rough around the edges. “I blew all my savings to save you. I’m flat broke now. If you have the nerve to die after all that, I’ll find Julian and make him pay for it.”
