Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 620

Christian fell quiet for a few seconds, his brow creased tight.

Finally, he let out a long sigh. His shoulders sagged. “You were so young. You’d just taken over Grayson Enterprises... I didn’t want you to know about any of this. I wanted to spare you from all the hatred that’s consumed me. But now you already know. There’s really no point in hiding it anymore. However you found out, it’s true. Every word of it.”

Julian’s fingers gripped the black chess piece in his palm, knuckles gone white.

Christian looked at him, pain etched in every line of his face. “Shelly... Madeline’s mother... She’s the reason your father is dead. If not for her, none of this would have happened. You wouldn’t have lost your dad. I wouldn’t have lost my best son. Your mother wouldn't be in a wheelchair if she hadn’t fallen down the stairs after hearing the news. Shelly is the reason for everything—every ounce of grief in this family. That’s why I’ve always tried to keep you and Madeline apart.”

He sounded lighter somehow, like saying it all out loud let something inside of him go. He drew in another shaky breath. “Julian, now you know. It’s time to let go.”

Julian looked up, his voice tense and steady. “Where’s your proof?”

“Proof? You really think I’m making all this up just to badmouth her?”

Julian didn’t respond. His jaw clenched, expression hard.

Suddenly Julian’s phone rang, slicing through the heavy silence. He glanced at the screen. Miles.

He answered. “What is it?”

Miles’ voice came through, rushed and nervous. “Boss, Ms. Monroe ran off.”

Julian shot up out of his chair. “You couldn’t keep track of one person?”

“It’s my fault. She said she wanted to go upstairs for a nap, so I didn’t go with her... She must’ve found a rope and tied it to the balcony. Climbed down from the second floor. We’re searching, but we only found the car she drove off in. She’s gone.”

Julian’s brows knit together, anger flaring behind his eyes.

She’d done it. She’d really left.

Luke meant that much to her? Enough to walk right into danger for him, no hesitation at all.

His tone was icy. “Pull the security footage. Bring her back.”
