Julian kept quiet, watching Madeline with a mix of amusement and tenderness in his eyes. “How does it feel?”
“I think… it feels okay.”
Madeline froze, her whole body stiffening as she straightened up. “Julian?”
“Who else would it be?”
If she had touched another man like that, Julian was pretty sure he would have lost it.
“You’ve been here the whole time?”
“Yeah.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I just woke up.” Julian sat up, his arm circling her slim waist. He carefully settled her onto his lap, then looked up at her and swept a piece of hair from her forehead. His lips curved into a teasing smile. “You always call me lecher, but it looks like you’re not much better.”
“Why are you saying that about me?” Madeline shot back, not ready to let it go.
She was innocent, wasn’t she? How was she anything like this big flirt?
Julian sighed, a note of helplessness in his voice. “What am I going to do with you? I guess I really do have to keep you by my side every day from now on.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m worried.”
“Worried about what?”
“I’m scared that if I’m not around, you’ll run into some other guy and start feeling him up without even realizing it. I might actually go insane.”
Madeline suddenly remembered what she had just touched, her cheeks going even redder as she shuddered at the memory.
“I was just now…”
“It’s fine if it’s me. You can touch me all you want.”
