Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 668

Madeline swallowed her mouthful of soup. “Are you two whispering over there? Got a secret I should know about?”

Julian handed her a peeled egg. “It’s about Claire.”

“Okay,” she said, letting it go. She’d promised Julian she’d let him handle anything to do with Claire. Honestly, she didn’t have it in her to meddle right now. She kept her questions to herself.

“I don’t want the egg. You have it.”

“I don’t eat breakfast.”

Madeline rolled her eyes. “Don’t be ridiculous. Just eat it.”

Julian didn’t argue. His face softened, and he quietly ate the egg like the most obedient person in the world.

Alianna was about to step forward, but Jane held her back with a hissed, “What are you doing?”

Alianna caught her mother’s look and stopped herself, swallowing down whatever she’d been about to say.

It was clear they weren’t wanted here. Jane just gave Ray a quick goodbye and left the room, taking Alianna with her.

As soon as they were out of earshot, Alianna started grumbling. “Seriously, Mom, how can a guy like that be so nice to a blind woman? What does she have that I don’t?”

Jane gave a chilly little laugh. “Simple. They used to be married.”

“Yeah, but come on, she’s blind now. There’s no way the Grayson family is going to let someone like her be their matriarch. If Madeline can marry Julian, then I’m even more qualified.”

Ever since she’d spotted Julian at the Ballard family’s party the night before, Alianna had been convinced she needed to have him. The guy was outrageously handsome, and now that she knew exactly who he was, she was set on it.

“Mrs. Grayson,” she said quietly, trying out the title in her mind. “It just fits me, doesn’t it?”
