Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 671

Madeline finally pieced it all together. “ Claire poisoned him and he lost everything, even his own name. The only reason he found me was because he actually carved my name into his arm, just so he wouldn’t forget.”

Shelly looked a little surprised at the details, but not that Luke had found Madeline. She knew just how loyal that boy could be, so trusting him came easy.

“When he gets better, let him stay with you,” Shelly said. “He’ll be a huge help.”

“Mom, don’t you think he deserves a life of his own?”

Shelly smiled, this soft, knowing smile. “You don’t really know him yet. Even with his whole memory wiped, he still can’t forget where his loyalties lie. You could try sending him away, but good luck getting rid of someone like that.”

Madeline grinned. “You have no idea how much that kid looks up to me. Honestly, he’s more protective of me than my own sons are.”

“Really? He practically grew up with the Ballard family. If he feels that bond with you, then I’m happy to treat him like a son. He’s family now, as far as I’m concerned.”

“Mom, you’re making him family without even asking if he wants it.”

Shelly laughed and reached over to pinch Madeline’s cheek. “Fine. Once he wakes up, we’ll ask him. Maybe he’ll say yes. Either way, I get another son out of it.”

Madeline couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright. We’ll see what he says.”

Shelly stuck by Madeline’s side the whole day. With the two of them together, no one else even had a chance to get close.

As night crept in, elsewhere, Claire’s hunger strike had pushed Julian to the end of his patience. He ordered his men to blindfold her, tie her up, and dump her somewhere out in the wild. He wanted her to really feel what it was like to be trapped, helpless, unable to see anything at all.

His phone buzzed, and he stepped away to answer.

An hour later, Claire was dragged in front of Julian.

He sat waiting for her, cool and collected, like he owned the place. Sitting there, arms resting on his knees, dark eyes lowered, he stared down at Claire as she crumpled on the floor.

Someone yanked off the blindfold. Claire winced at the sudden light. Then her eyes landed on Julian, and all the fight drained out of her. She looked like a scared, caged animal, pressing herself into the ground.

Julian just stared, cold and sharp, the corner of his mouth twisting into a mocking smile. “Weren’t you yelling to see me? What’s wrong now? Scared?”

Claire shivered, fighting to keep her voice steady. “What is this? You all hate me so much. Why not just kill me and get it over with?”
