Brenda blinked, her eyes lingering on the man in front of her. His shoulders were broad, his waist trim, every line of his abs clearly defined.
“Happy now?” he asked.
Her lips trembled, caught off guard that he would actually strip off his shirt just because of something she said. She quickly looked away. “Put that back on before someone calls security and has you thrown out.”
Mitch laughed under his breath, opened the car door, and slid into the driver’s seat. “Coming with me?”
“You’ve been drinking. Let me drive,” Brenda replied. But before she could even reach for the handle, her phone buzzed inside her bag.
She glanced at the screen. Oliver.
She answered right away.
“Hey, Oliver sweetheart, what happened?”
“Brenda, someone broke into the house. The thief says he’s our grandpa.”
Brenda’s heart skipped. Broke in? Even if Julian and Madeline weren’t home, plenty of guards and staff were around. How could anyone get in?
Her nerves spiked, but she forced herself to breathe, keeping her voice calm.
“Don’t be scared, Oliver. Are the bodyguards or maids still there? Listen, I’m coming right now. Just hang on, okay?”
She didn’t waste a second, calling the police as she bent down and spoke to Mitch. “Something came up. I have to go. Don’t drive, you’ve been drinking. Call for a ride, please.”
Mitch just watched her rush away, a small smile playing across his lips.
Moments later, Josh exited the hospital, noticing Mitch’s car parked outside. He strolled over and tapped on the window.
The glass slid down.
Josh took one look at Mitch’s bare chest and lifted an eyebrow. “So, exhibitionist now?”
Mitch smirked, pulling on a jacket from the back seat. “Not unless it’s for you.”
