Perfect Husband, The Destined One novel Chapter 3403

Once inside the Queen's room, Darryl detected a faint fragrance and thought about the previous night's scenery. How nice would it be if he were not in another world? He could have stayed longer and taken his time admiring the Queen's beauty.

He snapped back to reality, smacked himself on the forehead, and went into search mode for the Holy Jade Scripture. The Queen's room was not only spacious but also very luxurious. It took him close to an hour to look through every nook and cranny. However, he came up empty-handed.

'Was the Holy Jade Scripture never here to begin with?' Darryl thought before he noticed the slight bulge behind the ivory bed. It was apparent it was some kind of secret hiding place. He went there quickly, knocked on it without hesitation, and had his suspicion confirmed—the wall was definitely hollow.

He had found it. Excitedly, he was just about to open the hidden door when a crisp voice came from outside, and a girl walked into the room.

"Sister!" the girl yelled; she was wearing a jade green long dress. She had long golden hair and exquisite features. Darryl had met her for the first time the previous night; it was Angeline, the Queen's sister. It was already too late for Darryl to hide when he saw her. Angeline had already seen him, and she stood still with shock.

The next moment, she snapped back to her senses. "You're that guy from last night. I heard my sister made you a front guard." Her tone became stern. "Even so, you should not be here without her permission. So why don't you tell me now what you're doing here."

"I—" Darryl scratched his head and felt like crying. He had no idea how to answer her. She knew him from last night, so it would be harder to make up a plausible lie.

"Hey!" Angeline took a few steps closer to him and glared at him. "Do you have a crush on my sister? Is that why you're here? So that you can spy on her when she comes back?"

Darryl did not know whether to laugh or cry at her accusation. He was very impressed by her imagination. He scratched his head once more and said, "Well—"

Seeing his hesitation, Angeline became even more convinced about her theory. "It's good that you admit it. Don't worry. As long as you listen to me, I won't tell my sister about that," she said with an evil smile. After all, her sister was gorgeous and a Queen to boot. It was not weird for her to have many admirers.

Darryl was dumbfounded. 'Is she blackmailing me? What does she want from me?' he wondered.

"I'm not sure what you want, but I'll do it as long as you don't tell the Queen," Darryl said with a bitter smile. He had no choice but to go along with Angeline because the punishment for sneaking into the Queen's room was death.

Angeline smiled mischievously and said in a low voice, "Very well, you got yourself a deal. I'm now ordering you to find a way to take me out of the palace today." Then she turned to look at the sky outside the room with eyes full of yearning. She had never stepped a foot outside the palace and had always wanted to see the outside world. It was only natural she would not let that opportunity slip by her.
