Perfect Husband, The Destined One novel Chapter 3420

Darryl looked around his surroundings and saw Dennis standing somewhere at the side. The man was trembling, and there were huge beads of sweat on his forehead. As for Marshall, though he looked calm, his eyes belied the fact that he was feeling panicked.

The atmosphere in the main wall was unbearably heavy.

"Marshall," the Queen said softly.

"Your Majesty," Marshall said as soon as he moved to stand in front of the Queen.

"As the capital's commander-in-chief, you've served the royal family well, and I've always had a deep admiration for you. Therefore, it came to me as a shock that you would ever do something like this."

Marshall had an explosion in his mind and quickly knelt on the floor. "I've always been loyal to the Golden Lion Principality and the royal family. What are you talking about, Your Majesty?"

The Queen exhaled gently and said, "You mean to say you have no idea what I'm talking about? You should ask your son then. Ask him what he did yesterday." Her face was expressionless, but there was no disguising the anger in her eyes. How could she not be furious when Dennis abandoned her sister at the most critical times?

Suddenly, everyone concentrated their eyes on Dennis' face, which was drained of all colors. He immediately knelt and said, "Please don't be angry, Your Majesty. I didn't abandon Princess Angeline—"

Then, Princess Angeline interrupted her. "How dare you lie when I'm standing right here? When the dragon appeared yesterday, you and your men ran as fast as you could and left us to die! We would have been in the dragon's belly by now if it were not for Darryl's ability to communicate with the dragon." The more she thought about what happened, the more agitated she became.

Upon hearing that, the city mayors started to hurl insults at Dennis.

"It's shameless of him to abandon Princess Angeline at the most critical times."

"Yes, and he's the son of the commander-in-chief…"

"I had high hopes for him, but now…"

Marshall's expression changed drastically as he started to sweat profusely. He felt humiliated for having a son like Dennis.

Meanwhile, Dennis was about to cry. "Princess Angeline, you've misunderstood my intention. I was not running away. I went back to get some backup," he said fearfully as the tears finally fell. He thought that the dragon would definitely eat Darryl and Angeline, and no one would know about his involvement in the matter. He had not expected them to live through the ordeal and tell the Queen about all that had happened.

Angeline scoffed at what he said. There was no way she would believe that. Dennis started to panic even more and was about to explain himself again when Marshall shouted, "You good-for-nothing piece of sh*t!" Then, he slapped Dennis for doing something as shameless as that. The slap was so forceful that Dennis' face immediately began to swell.

"Father!" Dennis cried, choking back his tears. "I didn't abandon Princess Angeline. I was on my way to get some backup!"
