Darryl was touched by Tiger Ben's words, but he burst into laughter after that. "Don't worry about me," he said in a soothing, low voice. Then, he looked at the mountain peak to calculate the distance.
Many of the Flying Feathers Alliance members started to laugh when they saw him unmoving; they thought he had chickened out.
"I bet he's scared now."
"Didn't I say so? That he won't be able to do it?"
"Exactly!"
Darryl remained calm and paid no mind to their comments.
"Hey! What are you waiting for? Why don't you just give up if you don't think you can do it?" Peacock Lilibet shouted.
Darryl smiled and said, "Our competition hasn't ended yet, so why are you so sure I can't do it? In fact, I think you should prepare the drink for when you need to get down on your knees."
"Why you—" Peacock Lilibet's face darkened, and she shook with anger.
Darryl stopped making fun of her. He took a deep breath, flew up to the air, and headed straight for the mountain.
Everyone was shocked. They thought he had chickened out, but it seemed as if he was not afraid of the lightning from the enchanted barrier. However, many of the Flying Feathers Alliance members soon smiled derisively when they discovered that Darryl's speed was nowhere near Peacock Lillibet's. It was not surprising to them, though; how could a human ever compete with a bird?
After a few seconds, Darryl arrived above the mountain top. The same tyrannical energy and dark clouds began to gather at that time. Then, with a violent tremor in the air, the lightning ripped apart the sky and crashed down on the mountaintop. In the blink of an eye, the dust and smoke had completely shrouded Darryl.
The entire stone castle fell deathly quiet. The Flying Feathers Alliance members were filled with a mixed bag of feelings, but none of it was sympathy or pity. In fact, he deserved to be struck by lightning for being so stubborn.
Peacock Lilibet was shaking with inexplicable excitement and joy. Her plan of using the enchanted barrier to kill Darryl had worked! She could finally avenge the late Red Sparrow Queen.
Tiger Ben clutched his fist tightly and looked toward the mountain top with panic in his eyes. 'His Excellency is too reckless!' He also thought that Darryl was most probably dead.
Thunder and lightning were raging everywhere on top of the mountain. It was almost like the end of the world. However, Darryl was quickly shuttling back and forth between the lightning bolts. He was moving so fast that he left shadows whenever he passed, and it was difficult to catch him with naked eyes.
