Thinking of all that made Veron dislike Darryl a little less. Instead, she was curious about him. 'It seems like that Darryl can do just about anything. How many secrets is he hiding?'
On the other side, the King Court Hotel was the largest, most upscale, and most expensive hotel in Mid City. It would not be a stretch to say that only the wealthiest people could stay there. Skylar and Kendall returned to the hotel as soon as they left Sky Park.
"Sect Master, I daresay you seem to be very interested in Debra Gable from the way you were looking at her in the Sky Park just now," Kendall said as if that thought just occurred to her.
Skylar nodded his head without hesitation. "You're correct. She is beautiful like a goddess, and It was love at first sight for me when I saw her at the Heavenly Alliance's celebration banquet," he said with a smile.
Then, his tone changed to pity. "It's a shame that she only has eyes for Darryl and totally ignored all the ways I've been trying to woo her over."
Anger always washed over him whenever Darryl's name came up in the conversation. 'D*mn it! That has-been not only got to have Debra but also humiliated me at the antique store!'
Kendall's eyes flickered, and she quickly tried to appease him. "If that is the case, why didn't you kidnap Debra after you injured Dax in the Sky Park? Why don't I capture Debra at the first opportunity and offer her to you as a tribute?"
She was smiling when she said that, but there was a flash of cunningness in her eyes. She held a deep hatred toward Darryl in her heart. She could not kill him just yet, so she might as well capture his woman and offer her as a tribute to Skylar to temporarily assuage her anger. In other words, she was willing to do anything that would bring pain to Darryl.
Skylar started to laugh when he saw Kendall's sincerity. He shook his head and said, "I'm grateful for your loyalty, Kendall. But there's no need for you to meddle in my matters concerning Debra."
He looked out of the window, and the corners of his lips curled into a cunning smile. "If my guess is correct, Debra will come to me on her accord within 24 hours," he said confidently.
Kendall was a little taken aback. "Why would she do that?" she asked curiously.
"During the fight, I used my fiend soul power against Dax, and not many people can withstand that power, even if one is at the Heaven Ascension level like him. The longer the fiend soul power stays in the human body, the more dangerous it will be. The meridians and elixir fields in the body will be suppressed until the victim becomes extremely weak and eventually dies.
"In that situation, even Hippocrates can't save him. The only way to heal him is to use my blood as a medicine to remove it completely," Skylar said arrogantly.
On the surface, Skylar promised Debra that he would spare Dax's life when he had already used the fiend soul power on Dax.
'What?' Kendall shuddered and stared at Skylar blankly with shock. 'The fiend soul is terrifying!'
Then she became inexplicably excited and asked softly, "Does that mean Dax would invariably die if you don't come to his rescue?"
Skylar nodded and said with a smile, "That's right. Debra is a very sentimental woman. She won't just stand by and do nothing while the sworn brother of the man that she loves dies under her watch."
