Darryl stopped then, looking down at her. "Oh? Why are you so scared? Did someone bully you?"
It would only make sense for a child this young to hide behind a shelf if she was tremendously upset.
At the thought, Darryl swept Rachelle up into his arms as he said with a broad smile, "Come on, you can tell me. Who are your parents? Why were you hiding back there?"
Darryl was certain then of the fact that the little girl before him was one of the Elysium Gate members' daughters.
"You…"
Rachelle was beside herself with humiliation and indignance, and did not answer right away as she struggled. "Don't, don't… hold me, put me down right now." Her tone was nothing but panicked, but her voice was all childish and sounded adorable.
Rachelle was close to tears then.
Darryl had taken advantage of her multiple times in the past, even taking her purity. Now she had turned into a child and he was holding her in his arms. How embarrassing!
Uhh…
Darryl fidgeted awkwardly at the little girl's discomfort, putting her down immediately.
Upon being set down, Rachelle scrambled to tuck the undershirt she had on properly around her.
Upon doing so, Rachelle looked at the ground as she said in a low voice, "I… I'm not a kid. I'm Rachelle."
As she spoke, Rachelle's head was bowed as she wanted nothing more than to hide in a hole.
How embarrassing, how very embarrassing.
"What…"
Just then, Darryl spat out the tea in his mouth in an instant upon hearing Rachelle's words.
Had he heard himself correctly?
This little girl… was Rachelle?
Amidst his shock, Darryl took a deep breath as he stared intently at Rachelle. "Did you just say you're Rachelle?"
Rachelle nodded, her face scarlet.
Whew!
Just then, Darryl took a deep breath as his mind drew a blank for a long time.
