When Anthea woke up again, it was dawn outside.
She was awakened by the pain in her right abdomen. The anesthesia had completely worn off now, and the pain became more serious. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Adam sitting next to the hospital bed.
The curtain was not closed, and the sun had just risen, so it should only be six o'clock.
The light in the room was not very strong, but Adam' s silhouette was very clear. A few wisps of very shallow sunshine fell on his military green shirt, reflecting a faint halo, which made him look very warm.
Adam sat on a chair, with his long legs crossed idly. His back was straight, his chiseled chin slightly lowered, and his eyes were closed. He maintained his posture and slept there.
'He stayed here all night?'
Anthea forgot all the pain and looked at him blankly.
Her eyes fell from Adam's handsome face to his hand. To be precise, it was the hands of the two of them.
Because one of his big hands was held tightly by her. It seemed that it had been too long, and the blood in her hand didn't flow freely. She felt that every joint of her hand was numb.
Even so, she did not loosen her grip. On the contrary, she clenched her fist even tighter.
Such a small action seemed to wake Adam up. Anthea instantly felt guilty and closed her eyes, trying to pretend to be asleep.
"You're awake?"
The deep and thick male voice was tinged with the hoarseness.
Anthea almost forgot that he was a soldier, who could see through her little trick at once. She opened her eyes helplessly and rubbed them with embarrassment. "Well, Yeah, I just woke up."
The warm touch between her fingers disappeared. Adam got up from the chair.
Anthea's fingers curled up. Somehow, there was a little sense of loss in her heart.
Adam stood beside the bed and saw that Anthea looked better than yesterday. However, she was still a little weak. He asked, "How do you feel?"
"There's a bit of pain in the wound!" Anthea answered with a grimace.
"It's normal. You will recover after a while." Adam comforted her and said, "Try not to lie flat all the time. You'd better lie on your side and walk around at times. In this way, it can promote the enterocinesia, and also prevent the bowel adhesion. If the pain is too much for you, I can ask the nurse to give you a little amount of analgesics. Now you can't eat or drink. You must wait until there is peristalsis in intestines. Otherwise, you'll have the abdominal distension. Do you remember?"
Anthea nodded obediently and looked at him in admiration. "You are so knowledgeable, uncle."
"I asked the doctor," Adam replied.
Looking at his serious and cold eyes, Anthea was slightly stunned. She had never thought that a professional soldier like him could be so thoughtful. The soldiers had always been rough in her impression, but Adam was attentive to every detail.
Seeing that she suddenly frowned again, Adam thought that there was something wrong with her, so he asked with concern, "What's wrong?"
Anthea blinked her eyes and asked shamelessly, "What the hell is the enterocinesia?"
Adam paused and then replied, "Fart."
Anthea blushed.
She should have checked on the internet by herself. When she saw the stubble on his chin, she couldn't help asking, "You didn't leave and have been in the ward with me all night?" "Yes." Adam nodded.
Thinking that he had been guarding her all night, Anthea suddenly felt that she was not alone in this city that she was not familiar with. Besides her grandfather, Adam could also accompany her when she was ill.
"You must be tired." She said softly to him.
