Anthea frowned and stood up. "Do you know who is the man in the photo, mam?"
"No, I don't!" The woman shook her head and quickly denied it. Her face turned pale. "I don't know who he is. I don't even know where this photo came from! I have never taken it before!"
Anthea pursed her lips and said, "But your daughter said this man is her father."
The woman's eyes flickered with uneasiness, and her voice was shocked and flustered. "How can you believe the words of a child? She is too young to understand at all. Don't take what she said seriously! We have nothing to do with the man in the photo at all!"
The little girl also seemed to had realized that she had done something wrong and hid in the quilt, not daring to say a word.
"But..."
Anthea still wanted to ask, but the woman interrupted her. "Thank you very much for sending my daughter home. Now we want to rest. Please leave!"
Then she began to push Adam and Anthea out.
When they walked out of the courtyard, she closed the gate and even locked it from the inside, as if she didn't want to see anyone again.
Anthea and Adam were both speechless.
They knew that this woman must be hiding something.
Now they were very suspicious how she had gotten sue
The woman's reaction when the little girl took out the photo was very abnormal.
If there were too many suspicions, there would be a conspiracy!
On the way back to their apartment, Adam called Braxton, his comrade-in-arm, and asked him to arrange someone to keep an eye on this woman and her daughter. Then he called Carter to re-open the case.
When they got home, they put this episode behind and began to their privacy.
After dinner, they went downstairs and took a walk.
The apartment rented by Anthea was connected to several other buildings. There was a small park in the middle. At this time, there was still the last sunset. Many couples came out to talk a walk after dinner like them.
It was so quiet and peaceful.
They had been hiding in Francis for more than a week since they had eloped to get their marriage certificates.
Adam held Anthea's hand tightly.
He could not only hold on to firearms but also cook meals for her.
Adam rubbed her tender skin softly and didn't want to let go. When he glanced over, he saw her smiling brightly.
He was affected by her and also smiled. "Why are you smiling?"
"I just thought that it would be good to stay here for the rest of my life! We can run a small clinic. I'll be the doctor, and you're the cashier. After work every day, when we get home, you can cook for me!" Anthea grinned charmingly.
"Well, that sounds pretty good." Adam agreed.
Smiling at each other, they both felt that the picture seemed to be floating in front of their eyes.
However, their peaceful life was disrupted soon.
After returning to the apartment, Anthea took a bath first. When she came out, she saw Adam talking on the phone in front of the window with his back to her.
She was so interested in scaring him.
As soon as she stood on tiptoe, Adam turned around with a frown.
Anthea was stunned. Adam said in a deep voice, "We have to go back right now."
Seeing his serious look, Anthea was also worried.
"What happened?" She asked with concern.
"My dad is hospitalized."
