"Simon, don't laugh!"
Emily bit her lips in shame and anger because of his sudden laughter.
Simon didn't intend to stop, instead, he roared with laughter, which was getting louder and louder, echoing in the bedroom. His chest, under her palms, was convulsed with laughter.
Emily was so exasperated that she had no choice but to turn her face away and ignore him.
She shot him a sideways glance. He finally stopped, stretched out his arms, and took the phone on the cabinet. The screen lit up glaringly in the dark, and she saw that he had found the name "Caroline" from the calling list.
Hearing the beeping of the line, Emily wanted to turn over for she didn't want to hear their conversation at all.
However, she failed to move away. Simon reached out to hold her shoulder and stopped her. Then he put the woman on speakerphone, and the female voice sounded sweet, "Hello, Dr. Chin, why are you calling me?"
Simon didn't answer her. He directly asked, "Miss Channing, the day before yesterday, we went out of the city in your car. What did we do?"
"What's wrong, Dr. Chin?" The woman asked in confusion. "You were arranged to perform the heart operation for my father by the director of the hospital. My father is old and weak, so he's on a life-support machine. I'm afraid that he couldn't make it during transferring, so I asked you to go to Lim City with me."
"When I was taking a shower that night, did Miss Zhao answer a phone call for me?"
"Yes! I'm really sorry. My son was no naughty. He knocked over the paint box on you but you didn't blame him. You washed it in the hospital ward. I'm very sorry to have incommoded you!"
"It doesn't matter! I'm sorry to call you so late. Goodbye!"
After hanging up the phone, Simon grabbed his phone and raised his eyebrows. "Now you know I didn't cheat on you?"
She heard every single word clearly the woman said on speakerphone. She had thought that...
She didn't expect that woman was his patient's daughter. Depression simmered inside her suddenly disappeared, and even her breath seemed to become steady, and an unconscious appeared at the corners of her mouth.
However, she insisted on pretending to be indifferent and muttered stubbornly, "I don't care!"
Simon's lips curled up in a good mood. The bed was narrow and small, and he could easily hold her into his arms. Like a child holding a doll, he tucked around her with his two legs. Stroking her head, he got a sense of satisfaction like she was his precious possession.
Emily was shaking her head, trying to duck his big hand. Every time he acted like this, she felt that she was his pet. Suddenly, he whispered in her ear, "Emily, I am very happy today."
"For what?" Emily stopped.
"Your aunt cooks well." Simon answered in a low voice.
Emily smiled and asked quizzically, "You paid more than one million for a simple meal. Simon, are you kidding me?"
Simon heard this, but he didn't say anything. He just silently raised his lips in the dark.
The meals in Chin's Family were cooked by the well- paid chefs who were hired by his brother Wilson, however, he preferred today's simple home-cooked food.
Perhaps it was because he was aware of his identity as Bellamy's illegitimate son and that he was not close to his father, Simon felt that he couldn't blend into his family. Instead, he felt at ease here because it was warm and blessedly familiar. After his mother passed away, he had not felt genuine joy for a very long time.
Just as Emily was about to raise her head, he bent and kissed her.
She struggled slightly and let out a groan as they exchanged soft, exploratory kisses.
