When Simon suddenly mentioned what happened that night, Emily's face fell.
She recalled the feeling of being aroused that night. In the kitchen, he held her tight in his arms, and his thin lips were just beside hers. It was too tempting to resist his kiss and Emily was gooseflesh all over. Even until now, Emily could remember the fascinating feeling when she could not help but be completely bewitched by him.
At this time, his pair of peach blossom eyes looked as attractive as that day.
He gazed at her, and his eyes seemed to be shining like the twinkling stars in the night sky behind him. But abruptly, the radiant diamond on Addy's finger flashed across Emily's mind, which appeared to be much brighter than his sparkling eyes at this time. Slowly, Emily's heart became chilled.
Emily tilted her head to avoid his breath upon her so that she could breathe normally. Then, she said slowly, "Sorry, it's a misunderstanding!"
"What did you say?" Simon frowned.
"You just heard it!" Emily gritted her teeth and clenched her hands tightly, as if only in this way could she have the strength to continue in a cold, hard voice, "That time, I was just bewildered for a moment. If I made you misunderstand what happened that day, I could apologize to you!"
Little by little, the smile on Simon's face gradually vanished, and his low voice was obviously displeased. "Emily, are you sure you want to do this?"
"I'm sorry!" Emily looked into his eyes and apologized seriously, just like what she had just said.
"Oh, it was just my own wishful thinking!" Simon sneered. Emily could feel his breath on her eyes and nose.
Then, he suddenly withdrew his palm on her right face and sat back in his seat with one hand on the steering wheel. Emily could see his side face, which was gloomy. His beautiful eyes darkened.
Emily mustered up her courage, said slowly after a brief pause, "Beast, we're divorced and should stay away from each other. After all, we broke up peacefully. If we become embroiled with each other again, it will be an irresponsible attitude to each other. So, I hope what happened that night will never happen again!"
Perhaps, it was not her who be bewildered at the moment, but him!
Simon asked in a deep voice, "Are you done talking?"
"That's all..." Emily nodded.
Simon looked away, gritted his teeth, and said, "Get out of the car!"
Upon hearing this, Emily did not hesitate-she opened the car door the moment Simon unlocked it.
As soon as she stepped on the ground, Simon drove the black Cayenne away. Under the streetlight, there left only the faint exhaust fumes floating in the air. She clenched her hands and looked at it for a few seconds. Then, she pursed her lips, turned around and walked into the building.
That evening, after work, Emily came to the private hospital.
The elevator stopped at the level where the stomach surgery department was. She walked out of the elevator and went straight to the ward where Simon's grandmother lived. Since she visited her last time, she had been thinking about paying her another visit all the time. However, she was no longer Simon's wife, so she thought it was not proper for her to see his grandma.
Therefore, Emily deliberately avoided the weekend and chose to come over after work.
In the ward, grandma was sitting on the bed in hospital clothes. In addition to her, there were two other people in the ward. They were not nurses, but also old people in hospital clothes. It seemed that they came here to visit her.
In fact, living in a hospital was quite boring. The patients could smell disinfectant every day. Besides, there was limited activity space in the hospital. It was tolerable for those who only needed to stay here in a short time, but not for those who had to live here for many days. Thus, the patients would kill time by looking around some and chatting with others.
