Emily's face turned red in embarrassment. "Anthea, I do hope you haven't fallen in with the wrong crowd. Will you stop saying that?"
"I'm not. I've been to some poor countries and met simple and honest people!" Anthea said in defense. Then she took out her mobile phone and dialed a number. "Emily, it's my new number. Keep in touch! I will never lose cell service again. I have to go to buy some grapefruits for my mom on West Street!"
"Miss Lee, I can drive you there!" Simon said decidedly.
When she introduced herself just now, as a doctor, he appreciated her courage in rendering medical assistance abroad for so many years. Besides, she was a woman. There were few Schweizters in this world now. What was more important was that Anthea was Emily's close friend, so he had an ulterior motive in offering to help her.
Anthea waved her hand and held the small bunch of baby's breath. "No, you may continue. I can walk to there, only a short distance away!"
When she was about to turn around and leave, she blinked her eyes at Emily meaningfully.
Emily put her hand on her forehead. She could never break away from her frivolous image.
She looked away, but the low voice of the man rang at this time. "Do you want to make out in the car as your friend said?"
"I don't want it!" Emily glared at him.
Simon raised his eyebrows and said teasingly, "I'm just joking. Don't take it seriously!"
"..." Emily gnashed her teeth.
Simon's thin lips curved up slightly and suddenly said, "They are coming out!"
At the same time, he had already walked past her with big steps. He walked up to the two elders and helped them carry things. From a distance, she heard the laughter of her aunt.
"Emily, was Anthea talking to you just now?"
"Yes!" Emily replied.
"Oh dear. I haven't seen her parents recently. When did she come back? She changed a lot. She's a little tanned, but she's more pretty. I can't even recognize her just now!" Aunt whispered in surprise.
Emily nodded in agreement. Indeed, she did look a bit different. Anthea was very beautiful since young. She had always been a well-recognized beauty in the schools.
"She is at the same age as you, twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old. She has become a spinster. She has been abroad for the past few years and hasn't even come back for Christmas. Until now, she doesn't even have a boyfriend. I'm so worried for her!" After her aunt sighed, she dropped the subject, "You are much better than her. You get yourself a good husband!"
Emily pursed her lips.
She couldn't help but look at Simon, who was leaning over to help her uncle put the food into the trunk one by one. His side face looked so handsome that she couldn't take her eyes off him.
Her aunt was still murmuring to herself. "I'll call her tonight and ask her to come over and have dinner with us!"
"Okay!" Emily nodded.
The dinner was as extravagant and lively as it used to be.
Since her aunt returned home from the market, she had not stopped working in the kitchen. In fact, in the past four years, as long as Simon went back here, the dinner would be a blast as if they were spending another
