Purchased A Mr. Right novel Chapter 857

She reclined on the bed, staring at the floating clouds outside the window in a daze until the rosy light gradually appeared on the horizon.

There were low voice rising from the hallway. The door was opened and then closed.

Simon put the car key on the shoe cabinet, put on his slippers, passed through the living room, and found her lying on the big bed. He knew that her colleagues would drive her back after work.

Seeing her lying motionless on the bed, he thought she was asleep. When he got closer, he saw her staring at nothingness.

Simon leaned over and sat on the bed, asking with a smile, "Mrs. Chin, you're home early."

"..." Emily didn't reply.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling all right?" Simon asked and wrinkled his brows.

Emily pursed her lips.

When she heard him mention this, she felt even more depressed. She didn't even want to look at him, so she turned her face to the other side with the back side of her head to him. She closed her eyes-out of sight, out of mind.

Simon slightly bent over. "Emily?"

Emily's lips twitched, but she remained silent with a poker face.

Simon frowned again and thought that her pregnancy cast a gloom over her. Seeing that she ignored him, Simon continued to ask in a low voice for fear that she might be uncomfortable with the hollow, empty feeling in her stomach, "Are you hungry? What do you like to eat?"

Receiving no answer, he could only mutter to himself. "There are pumpkin, shrimps, and chicken in the refrigerator. Would you like to have a chicken parmigiana and shrimp scampi? What do you want to drink? Pumpkin cream soup?"

Far off to the west the sun was sinking, Simon stood in the kitchen.

He was rolling the chicken breasts in the breadcrumbs. Then, he browned them in a frying pan, dropped the sauce onto a baking sheet with a teaspoon, and then put them in the oven.

While waiting, he remembered that he had forgotten to tell the nurse an urgent matter. He took out his phone from his trouser pocket.

Only then did he realize that his phone was switched off.

To maintain the order of the court, everyone present, from litigants and observers from the public gallery were asked to turn off their cell phones.

This afternoon, Addy's case came up, so he went with her. It was a key for whether she could get rid of Sean, so he must attend it for his testimony was an important element of the case.

Thinking of this, his eyes turned cold and grey.

After he turned on the phone screen, a text message popped in before he dialed the surgical department.

From Tina.

Yes, his future sister-in-law.

However, he paled visibly at the sight of it and immediately ran to the bedroom with a gesture of frustration.

"What the hell is he thinking!"

Emily was in a really black mood.

At the thought of how she panicked in the afternoon, he didn't appear, not to mention that she couldn't even get through to him. How could he sweet-talk to her as if nothing had happened...

The more she thought about it, the more depressed she became.

Hearing the footsteps again, Emily sat up, grabbed the pillow in the bed and threw it out fiercely.
