When Maya returned from her walk, she happily went to play with the others. Clara pulled Jasper to their bedroom and shut the door. She asked quietly, “What the hell is going on? You heard it too, right? Someone’s stealing Scott’s woman!” 

Clara was not one to gossip, but her curiosity got the better of her at that moment. She was even a little excited

Jasper realized how odd his wife was behaving. He furrowed his brows. “You seem to be really interested in Scott and Naomi’s affairs.”

Jasper was speechless. He did know what Clara meant by that. Did she not think that it was a serious problem? A man like that appears next to someone’s wife. Problems would surely arise. He was worried. 

Clara went on and on while Jasper got lost in his thoughts. He was thinking about Naomi and Scott. He was worried. 

At that moment, in the luxurious yet understated study. The study was decorated with antiques from a different period. It was as if one time–traveled. 

Mrs. Smith made them tea before leaving quietly. 

Scott was sitting on the couch. He picked up his teacup and took a sip. 

Edith looked at him. “What’s going on with you and Naomi?” Edith was old and sage. She saw all 

types of people and went through a lot in her life. There were some things that she could guess without having to think too much about them in detail.

Scott and Naomi were having marital problems. Huge ones. 

Scott placed his teacup down. “We got divorced.” 

Edith furrowed her brows immediately. She knew that they had huge problems, but she never would have thought that they would be divorced. 

Her gaze turned sharp. She looked at the man she watched him grow up before her eyes. trying to have a read on him.

Scott faced Edith’s overbearing gaze and said, “She wanted it.” 

Edith’s gaze darkened. She looked at Scott as if berating him. “It’s your fault.” 

She did not take sides. 

She looked away and said, “For the past three years, you were always outside. You rarely went home. You only thought about working. You didn’t care about your wife.” 

“Naomi’s a great woman. She treats you well. She cares for the family. She took on the responsibility of maintaining the family that you never realized the responsibility you should take as a husband.” 

“You took everything for granted. You forgot that you agreed to marry her. She’s your wife. The person that you should spend your life with. She’s not your subordinate. She isn’t someone that you can just shower with materialistic things.
