Chapter 78
Naomi said she would look for him!
Charles never imagined hearing such words from her, not even in his wildest dreams. Thus, he was startled to hear her saying this herself. There was astonishment, joy, and even a sense of contentment in his heart, a mix of emotions that gradually painted a smile on his face.
“What you said… Is it true?” Charles asked, looking at her with a warm gaze, his eyes focused and shimmering with ripples.
Naomi smiled slightly. “Of course, it’s true. Now go. We’ll stay in touch through phone calls.”
“Alright.”
At that moment, Charles‘ smile blossomed. The two of them turned to leave. As they departed, Naomi cast a final glance across the way, but the child was nowhere to be seen.
Charles was about to leave, but he still went back to bid farewell to Naomi’s parents in person. They knew he had been delayed for some time and hurriedly urged him to attend to his matters. Before he left, they insisted on placing the locally bought specialties into Charles‘ car.
Charles promptly declined, but even Naomi chimed in. “Charles, just accept them. They’re particularly delicious things from our region. Take them to your parents.”
Charles found it difficult to refuse at this point, especially when Naomi mentioned his parents. He gazed at her tenderly. “Next time, I’ll bring some local specialties from my mother’s side for you to try. My mother is from San Angelino, and their local spécialties are excellent, too.”
Naomi smiled and agreed, “Alright.”
Donna watched the two of them, thoroughly satisfied with the sight.
“Well, I’ll be on my way now. Take care of yourselves, Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin.”
Charles got into the car, waved to Donna and Dean, and finally looked at Naomi.

Naomi gave him a gentle smile, and he reciprocated. Starting the car, he smoothly drove out of the residential area.
The person in the rearview mirror gradually shrank. He withdrew his gaze and looked ahead, feeling a slight warmth in his heart.
Was she slowly accepting him?
Naomi stood in the community and watched the car drive away, turning the corner and disappearing from sight. Her gaze softened.
Charles diligently took care of her for a week at the hospital without alerting her parents about the injury. He was careful and did an excellent job, solely focused on her.

She needed to repay him. It was only reasonable to show reciprocity.
Naomi turned and intended to go back when she saw the elderly couple looking at her with a satisfied
smile.
Naomi paused slightly and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Her parents seemed to be in a very good mood. They exchanged glances in response to her question, appearing somewhat helpless.
