Yun Shang bent over and picked up a cup of tea. When she heard lady Shu's question, she paused for a second, and then slowly picked up the cup of tea. She looked at Lady Shu with surprise in her eyes, "Lady Shu, you are so discerning. The little guy ate the chestnut cake sent
here by a maid. Is there anything wrong with it?"
Hearing this, lady Shu smiled faintly, raised her hand, wiped the corner of her mouth gently, and shook her head, "nothing, I am just asking casually."
Although she said she was just asking, her eyes were full of mischief as if she was waiting for something to happen.
Yun Shang was not in the mood to guess what was behind Lady Shu's smile. The chestnut cakes were sent to the little prince by the maids, and were given to him by the maid herself. She believed that no matter what happened to the little prince, she would be safe. She had learned how to not give a damn about anyone else through all these years living in the palace.
Yun Shang took a sip of the tea and looked at the little boy next to her. The maid was about to serve the prince a cup of tea. Yun Shang beckoned to his maid, "serve the little prince and let him have some tea."
The servant immediately responded yes, and handed the cup to Xia Yunxi's mouth. Raising his head, Xia Yunxi gave Yun Shang a glance. Then he bowed his head, put the cup in his hand and began to drink water.
Right at this moment, a woman who was in her twenties walked up to Yunxi and said worriedly to him, "Oh, my dear, I just went to help someone else for a while. You were gone in a twinkling of an eye and I was almost scared out of my heart."
The worried look on the lady's face didn't seem to be lying, and Yun Shang was trying to figure out who she was. Then, she heard a timid voice called, "Nanny..."
The servant woman took the little boy in her arms and curtsied to everyone. Then she was about to take Xia Yunxi off the hall. Yun Shang thought for a while and said indifferently, "the empress just asked Yunxi to wait for her to change her clothes. Today is her Majesty's birthday, so please let Yunxi stay with you."
The maid stopped in her tracks and looked up at Yun Shang. She immediately responded, "yes, yes, I understand." Then she put down Xia Yunxi on a nearby chair. Seeing that he was holding a small piece of chestnut cake, she said hastily, "I hope you won't eat too much this time." Then she took the half piece of chestnut cake from the boy's hand and put it aside.
Yun Shang took a glance at the maid, and thought, 'since Xia Yunxi's nanny is here, nothing bad will probably happen.' Then she turned her head to start talking to Lady Yun casually.
While the two of them were talking, Yun Shang smelled a faint fragrance. She was surprised and frowned. She took a few deep breaths and a murderous look flashed in her eyes. Yun Shang looked around quietly and saw only lady Shu looking at her with a smile on her face. Yun Shang thought what had happened just now over in her mind. Then she picked up the teacup on the table and sniffed it. Suddenly, her face turned pale because of it.
"What's wrong?" Ning Qian looked at Yun Shang and asked in a low voice, seeing that her face was suddenly pale. Yun Shang made a secret gesture at Ning Qian and fell her eyes on the teacup in her hand. Ning Qian was silent for a while and then he turned to look at the servants standing beside her.
Yun Shang placed the teacup on the edge of the table, and the maid around Ning Qian hurried up to the table and poured a cup of hot tea for Yun Shang. When the maid was about to put the teacup on the table, her sleeve swept lightly on the cup and the teacup hit the ground. With a heavy "bang", a cup of tea was poured on Yun Shang's arms.
"Ah!" Yun Shang let out a cry of surprise and hurriedly lifted her sleeve. The lower part of her arm's skin was burned red already.
"Please forgive me, your highness! I didn't mean to do it! Please forgive me!" The maid immediately fell to her knees and begged for mercy.
"How did you poor the tea?" Ning Qian couldn't help but frown and shouted at the maid angrily.
Yun Shang hurriedly took Ning Qian's hand and said with a smile, "don't be angry with her, Lady Xiang. She didn't do it on purpose." After saying that, she looked at the red stain on her arm and continued, "I'm afraid I have to borrow the palace of Lady Xiang to change my clothes there. Today is the Empress' birthday, and I'm not going to attend her birthday party in dirty clothes. I'm afraid it's not good for me."
Ning Qian rose to her feet at once, "Okay, I'll go with you."
Yun Shang shook her head and looked at the little boy who was playing with his fingers. "The empress has entrusted me with the little prince just now, and I can't take care of him now. Please help me take care of him, Lady Xiang."
Ning Qian meditated for a moment and nodded her head. She ordered the maid kneeling on the ground, "take her highness to the Xiang Zhu Palace now. Quick!" The maid nodded her head immediately and took Yun Shang to the Xiang Zhu Palace. As soon as they walked out of the Wei Yang Palace, Yun Shang frowned and said to the maid coming out from the Prince Rui's mansion behind her, "go to find Mr. Liu at the gate of the Wei Yang Palace. Ask him to tell his highness to come to the Xiang Zhu Palace."
The maid hurriedly obeyed, and ran in the opposite direction of Yun Shang.
The maid who led the way turned around and asked softly, "Master, is there anything wrong?"
