REBORN: The Retaliation of the Fallen Luna novel Chapter 3

GARTH

All my childhood, I saw how my father and his mistress caused my mother’s depression, leading to her early death. My mother is my father’s mate, but it doesn’t make my father faithful to her. He cheated and, sadly, chose his lowly werewolf mistress over my mother, a Lycan princess.-

That made me distance myself from Papa. We became strangers to one another. Since that moment, I promised myself that once I met my mate, I would be loyal to her. Only her.

And then I met Ashina, a daughter of an alpha from another werewolf’s pack. The Frostfang Growlers. She was a nice she-wolf, but I know how she was attached to Charles. I witnessed how she and her childhood sweetheart Charles, loved to be together. I had no intention to meddle in their love story, but Moon Goddess did as she chose Ashina to be my mate. I vowed it would only be her when I learned she was the one.

When I smelled that unfamiliar scent, my wolf wildly told me to mark Ashina, but I did not. No rejection had been done for two years, but I knew Ashina would reject me under the blood moon on the night of the ceremony.

And that would be tonight.

For two years, I waited at a distance for her to realize it was me she would need to accept as a mate. I almost believe that Charles is a good wolf for her that maybe… that maybe I could sacrifice our supposed bond for her happiness, but...

But after the investigation of Trion, we discovered that Charles is not what I thought him to be. He is a bad guy, and when I told Ashina about it, she didn’t believe me and even told me that I was saying ill words out of spite because of jealousy. She proudly said that she would reject me for Charles. She accused me of tarnishing Charles' good reputation because even though I am an alpha, she will choose an omega.

I wanna fight for Ashina, but what is there to fight for? She plans to reject me at the ceremony.

Funny, that even last night, I was pestered and bullied by some werewolves which made me decide I should stop pursuing Ashina. I want her to be my mate, my luna… but wanting is questioned when she was the one who could start my suffering.

There was even a time when she almost committed suicide, according to Jenella, her sister. Jenella is unlike Ashina, who was obviously raised as spoiled as she is. If marrying me would cause her to choose death, I better give her up.

And how amusing now... when my pack and I were done with our conference and decided to return to our place after I rejected Ashina tonight, she appeared. She was frantic as she was now here before me, telling me I should mark her, almost like panicking.

“Mark me…” she sniffled. “Don’t reject me…”

Her tears made me think about what was happening. When I learned she was my destined mate, I tried to be closer to her, but she always did her ways to make me feel unwanted.
