Gerald seemed like a different person now, which made Matthew overjoyed.
"Gerald is a good man," Sabrina answered.
He was genuinely kind to her, and she couldn't deny that.
"So, what do you see in him?" Matthew asked.
She pondered seriously before answering, "He's good-looking and comes from a good family. He's constantly improving himself and has a pure heart. Most importantly, he treats me well. I like being with him."
Whenever she was with him, she didn't have to worry much.
As Gerald came downstairs, he heard what she said and happily approached her. "Sabrina, why are you here?"
"You didn't answer my call," Sabrina answered. She didn't want to expose him in front of Matthew.
He was no fool. He glanced at his father and said, "You continue what you were doing. Sabrina and I have things to discuss."
With that, he pulled her away.
Gerald immediately remarked when they got to the small living room upstairs, "Don't scold me. If I didn't know about it, I could let it slide. But if I knew and didn't do anything, that would be unfair to you."
"I'll handle this matter myself," Sabrina responded.
Though, she was moved by his words. She could tell that he genuinely cared for her, unlike Nelson.
"I know what I did was wrong. But this is the only thing I could do since there's no more evidence now," Gerald explained. "Sabrina, don't feel burdened by this. If your family was here, they would've made the same choice."
He knew Pamela did it, but the law couldn't punish her without evidence.
As she stared at him without speaking, tears welled up in Sabrina's eyes.
He grew embarrassed under her gaze and scratched his head awkwardly. "Don't worry, I was very careful. Nothing will happen. I just wanted to teach her a lesson so she wouldn't bully you again."
"Okay." She suddenly remembered his promise of being there for her, and he kept his word.
Sabrina and Gerald chatted briefly and decided to end the matter with Pamela.
