In the CEO's office at SG Group Headquarters
Knock! Knock! Knock!-
"Come in." A calm male voice sounded from the office. Malcolm was studying the documents he hadn't gotten to these past few days when Sean Xiao, his assistant, opened the door and walked in with a mobile phone in his hand. "Mr. Malcolm, it's Miss Lin on the phone for you."
"OK." Malcolm slowly penned his name and then raised his head. His deep eyes squinted as he accepted the phone and said, "You can leave, Sean!"
"Yes, sir." Sean Xiao nodded and retreated a few steps back. Then he turned on his heel and gently closed the door as he left.
Malcolm unlocked the phone with his slender finger and asked, "Hello?"
"Malcolm! Are you busy now? I heard that you went straight to the company without even taking a break yesterday once you returned to Ye City. You must take better care of yourself!" said Catherine Lin with a sweet voice.
"Yes. Do you have anything else to tell me?" Malcolm replied in a cold voice.
"Can't I call you? I have nothing else to do." She pouted her full lips, acting like a spoiled child.
"I'm busy. I won't answer your calls if there's nothing important. Bye."
"Wait! Wait! I am serious! I have something to tell you! I really do have something to tell you," she hurriedly said.
"Yes?"
Hearing he was still on the line, Catherine heaved a sigh of relief and continued, "I heard that a magazine wants to interview you. Can you-"
"Interview me? Why don't I know about this?" Malcolm asked while perusing the documents.
"Well, my friend who works at this magazine told me. Anyway, they have the right to want to interview you!" After these few words, she finally got to the point. "Could you tell the media something about us during the interview?"
"About us? What's there to tell about us? I still haven't decided whether I will accept the interview or not," Malcolm said without even raising his eyes.
"I'm twenty-six years old. It's high time I got married. You know, my father has always liked you. Why don't you tell them more about our relationship?" Catherine Lin looked happy and proud. She was the daughter of the mayor. In Ye City, there was perhaps no one more suitable to be Malcolm's wife than her. And Malcolm was so excellent that no one was more suitable to be the son-in-law of the mayor than him.
"Miss Lin, we are just friends at the moment. It's too early for us to talk about marriage." Malcolm put down his pen, tapped his fingers rhythmically on the table before adding, "And I don't want to get married now."
She had expected this reaction from him. It was just a bold idea of hers, and she had no hope of winning.
"Are you free tonight? Let's have dinner together," Catherine Lin said, smoothly changing the topic.
"I'm busy tonight," Malcolm responded in a low voice.
"What are your plans?"
'Tm having a dinner with my family."
"Can I go with you?" asked Catherine Lin, full of expectation.
"It's not suitable for you to attend such an occasion."
"... Okay." Though she was attractive, she had higher self-esteem than most women her age. She would no longer pine for him because of the many times he had refused her.
As Malcolm was about to hang up the phone, he thought of something and asked, "I wonder, which magazine is going to interview me, Miss Lin?"
