“Sigh…”
Callan sighed deeply.
He was slightly crestfallen upon hearing news of Lucjan’s demise. Callan was once the Sect Leader of the Gu Sect, and he swore to avenge his fallen comrades during the battle against the Gu Sect. Even now, deep down, he still held a grudge. Sometimes, he thought about continuing his revenge. However, his resolve had wavered. He thought of Lucjan as a confidant. Although he betrayed him in the end, he understood his reason for doing so.
“What’s wrong?” Upon seeing Callan’s melancholic expression, James asked.
“It’s nothing.”
Callan shook his head slightly and said, “By the way, what do you plan to do next?”
James said, “Now that I have regained control of Crucifier, I should return at once to save Thea. Maxine’s injuries are grave too. They need my help.”
“Mhm.”
Callan nodded and said, “In that case, you should return at once. I will remain at Divine Sword Villa for a few more days. After all, the First Blood Emperor and Ezekiel managed to slip through your grasp. I’m worried they will be back soon.”
“I’m running out of time. I will depart at once.”
“Get going, then.” Callan waved.
James stood up and left after informing the owner of Divine Sword Villa.
He went to the place where he got off the plane and headed to the military region with a helicopter. Then, he boarded a plane inbound for the Capital. By daybreak, he had arrived at the military region of the Red Flame Army.
He did not return home but instead headed to the Cadens’ residence. That was because Maxine was in a much more precarious situation. Although Thea’s injuries were equally as grave, she should be fine for now. So, he decided to save Maxine first.
By the time he arrived at the Cadens’ residence, it was already eight in the morning.
In a room in the Cadens’ courtyard…
Maxine was lying on the bed while wearing a white dress.
