Now that Lucjan was dead, this was the perfect opportunity to make a move against the Gu Sect.
“I’ll discuss the specifics with Maxine before formulating a plan,” James looked at Thea and said.
Although Thea might be displeased upon hearing him bringing up Maxine, Maxine was now in control of the Cadens and possessed great authority in the Capital and even in Orient Commerce. James knew nothing about the situation in the Capital. So, he had to be fully prepared for everything.
“Get going, then.”
Thea said smilingly, “You know, Maxine’s a pretty nice girl. You should better acquaint yourself with her.”
James looked at Thea. At that moment, he could not understand what she was trying to say.
Thea stood up and adjusted James’ shirt before saying with a serious look on her face, “With my condition, I won’t live for long. After I’m gone, you’ll need someone by your side…”
Then, she fell silent. She knew that James would understand what she was hinting at.
James did not say anything and instead held her in his embrace.
“Go on. You have more important matters to attend to. Two months later, we’ll leave the Capital together.”
As she said that, she pushed James away. Silent, James turned to leave.
After leaving, James could not help but feel melancholic. Thea had undergone so many tribulations along the way. He could not let her down.
Then, he headed to the Cadens’ residence.
Maxine was in a much better condition now. Although she was still feeble, her injuries were no longer life-threatening.
“James…”
Upon seeing James, she tried to get up.
James hurriedly walked over to her and stopped her. “You’re still recovering. You should rest well for now. I’m here today to ask you a few questions.”
“I’ll be taking my leave, then.”
