Jonas burst into laughter once again the moment he had heard the conversation that Nathan had with Colin.
Jonas and his subordinates had found him hilarious because they thought that he was merely joking when he said that he would get those in power to join them within ten minutes.
Similarly, his secretary and the rest of his underlings could not hold back their laughter as well.
After all, the citizens had always been the ones who would be requested to provide their aid to the relevant departments.
It would be impossible for an ordinary citizen to procure aids from the relevant departments because the so-called aids were a double entendre. It might not necessarily mean what it literally was.
Usually, it would indicate that one had gotten themselves in a huge mess. Therefore, they had to be summoned for interrogation.
In short, Jonas and the rest of his party thought that Nathan was joking because it would be impossible to gather the mayor and the rest of those whom he had mentioned within ten minutes.
Jonas grew full of himself and ridiculed his cousin, "Ha! If you're able to get them to show up in my office, I'll return the money to you. Apart from that, I'll get down on my knees in front of you and address you as my father!"
"Feel free to get down on your knees in front of me, but please don't address me as your father because you don't deserve to be my son," Nathan replied in a callous tone.
In return, Jonas' eyes widened in disbelief. He was infuriated by Nathan's reply.
He could not believe that he had actually run into a man that was far more arrogant than he was.
Concludingly, Jonas warned Nathan, "Fine! If they fail to show up within ten minutes, I'm afraid that I'll have to teach you another lesson. I'm sure that you're aware of what's in store for you, right? Hopefully, you won't end up like those two, from earlier."
Within five minutes, Jonas received a call from the receptionist. She told him in a quivering voice, "M...Mr.
Cross...S...Something's wrong... T...The chief of police, Zed, is here with a bunch of infantries. T...They had surrounded the building. W...We dared not to get in their way. I...I believe that they are on their way to your office."
The moment Jonas received the call, his mind was all over the place.
Bam!
Suddenly, someone barged into the conference room. Immediately, Zed made his way into the conference room with a dozen of infantries by his side.
Jonas got up from his seat and rushed over to welcome him immediately. "Sir, what brings you here today?"
However, Zed pushed Jonas aside and rushed over to Nathan's side with the dozen of infantries that he had by his side. They greeted politely, "Hello, Mr. Cross!"
"Hey...Please take a seat..." Nathan replied nonchalantly.
