It was already past 10 pm when Nathan and Colin left Mid Channing.
Nathan felt a bit hungry, so he invited Colin for a meal along the nearby Supper Street.
Upon reaching Supper Street, they quickly decided on one of the eateries and ordered a ton of dishes.
Suddenly, a young woman dressed as a beer promoter approached them and asked shyly, "Sir, do you want to order some beer?"
She seemed to be around sixteen or seventeen years old—the age of a college student. Nathan found her rather conspicuous given her young age and that she was wearing a miniskirt.
He glanced at the attractive young woman before replying, "Give me two dozen beers!"
The young woman smiled sweetly upon hearing his reply and quickly proceeded to serve the beer to Nathan and Colin.
Seeing that she was rather unfamiliar with uncapping the beer bottle, Nathan asked, "I guess you are still studying? Why are you out selling beer?"
The young lady looked at Nathan warily upon hearing his question. But for some reason unbeknown to her, she felt she could trust him when she saw the determination in his eyes.
She replied softly, "I am a high school junior. My family is poor, so I work as a beer promoter after school to support my education and household expenses."
Poor children indeed have to manage household affairs at an early age!
Nathan nodded in approval and complimented her, "Not bad. You earn your own keep!"
